AlterEgo

What is AlterEgo?

AlterEgo is a wearable system used for silent speech allowing you to communicate
with computers and other people without speaking. The system is made to be a personal,
private, and seamless alternative to accessing the internet and other online services.
The device reads signals from your facial and vocal cord muscles when you silently and
intentionally voice words. They use this to make a language user interface without
actually speaking. The system is is still deep in development and they are still
working to improve it in many different departments.

What's the goal?

The goals of AlterEgo are to cognitively augment humans and change the way people
communicate with one another. It offers an intrinsic gateway to digital information.
Current interfaces do not allow for silent communication with the internet without
picking up a device and texting. AlterEgo wants to make a private interface to com-
municate with others and view information on the internet. It may also help people
with speech impairments communicate easier.

What's does it do?

AlterEgo will read when you silently voice words using facial and cord muscles. It
will then do what you asked of it, like tell you the time, call a friend, add up the
total cost of something, work as a remote for a tv, or search something up on the
internet. The system could also work as digital memory where the user could internally
record streams of information and access these later through the system. It may also be
able to translate sentences faster to make multilingual conversation easier.
